On April 23, 2010, Arizona Governor Janis Brewer (R) signed Senate Bill 1070, the most radical immigration legislation in the United States, effectively permitting racial profiling in the state of Arizona. The law requires police to demand immigration papers from anyone who they have a "reasonable suspicion" is in the country illegally. This blog will chronicle the major events regarding this racist and inhumane law.
We enthusiastically encourage a boycott of the State of Arizona until the law is repealed.

MOVE THE GAME

-via Moveon.org

"In the wake of Arizona's new anti-immigration law, calls for repeal are coming from an unusual source: Major League Baseball players.

Players are demanding the 2011 All-Star Game be moved from Phoenix, AZ unless the new law - which allows police to stop anyone they "reasonably" suspect of being in the country illegally - is repealed.

It's time we get the players' backs. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig has the final decision on whether to move the All Star Game, but he isn't likely to listen to the players unless he hears from fans too.

Can you sign the petition to Commissioner Selig today?

When we pass your info to Presente.org, they'll deliver a compiled petition with your individual comment to MLB Commissioner Bud Selig. Presente.org will also keep you posted by email about progress and further developments..."
